TEAM 5: GHD co.

"Discovering the steps of a start up was more interesting than I thought. The first step was to find an environmental problem that could be solved by a later idea.

Also helped by surveys, we were able to understand that people spend more than 8 hours a day with their phone charging, thus wasting electricity and above all damaging the charger and battery.

With our idea of a smart ​​schuko we can put an end to this waste.

It disconnects the power supply as soon as the device has completed charging, thus safeguarding the charger and the battery.

The smart schuko will be advertised through various social media and can be purchased on its own website with a unique package.

Finally, we have prepared a growth and investment plan with the help of our tutor."

TEAM 7: SLOW FASHION

"Working on the development of a start up was a unique challenging experience. In fact, beyond the diversity of the group and the necessity of only speaking in English which by the way wasn’t a problem at all, I had the possibility to realise how much work there actually is behind a business idea.

The first thing we had to do  was to find a problem related to the environment that we could have solved with a future idea. We realised what an impact fast fashion has on our planet, so we decided to focus on it and we came up with an app where people can buy and sell second hand clothes. We also considered giving people the possibility to follow tutorials and online sewing classes in order to be able to repair their own clothes. Then, with our tutor’s help, we had to face the toughest part: we had to do some research about the market size,competitors,to develop a business model and we finalised that with the financing".

TEAM 8: CYCLING TO THE FUTURE

"Working on creating a start up was a really delightful experience. My team and I firstly found out that one of the main problems of urban areas is transportation.

As seen by our survey, most people travel by car, but there are also citizens who rely on public transports such as taxis or buses.

All these transportations, however, cause both pollution and traffic congestion, which eventually lead to an infuriating waste of energy and time.

Then we came up with our idea, Cycling to the Future. It offers electric bikes that will help customers move around cities while avoiding traffic.

These bikes are advantageous because, since they do not rely on fuels, they will not pollute the environment, giving an ecological incentive to choose our service.

In addition, our clients will receive advantages as well because, based on the distance they travel, they will receive points which can be used on our app to obtain special coupons for discounts! Then with the help of our tutor we also consider the commercial part about the marketing and the finance."

TEAM 9: RE-WASTE

"I enjoyed working on creating a startup, it was a really interesting experience.

At first when I was placed in a group with other people I didn’t know and a foreign tutor I thought it would be very difficult to work together, but I changed my mind soon. In fact when we met for the first time, it was very easy to share our ideas and talk to each other.

Then we came up with an idea for our project: we want to keep our city clean and at the same time recycling the waste, so it was born RE-WASTE, a fashion and sustainable brand.

We thought that it could be a great idea to reuse plastic waste to produce clothes and we decided to offer a collection system for plastic, then involve factories to produce plastic fibres and at the end the clothes.

We were introduced by our tutor to the concept of startup and we were able to realise our idea in detail, from the design to the financial part. It was an non-ordinary experience and I really liked participating in this program"
